A famous seaside temple dedicated to Lord Murugan on the coast of the Bay of Bengal. It is believed to be the place where Murugan defeated the demon Surapadman. Unlike most Murugan temples located on hills, Tiruchendur stands beside the sea, making it one of the most unique pilgrimage sites in Tamil Nadu.

Local Tip
Visit the Nazhikinaru sacred freshwater well near the temple after the sea bath. Carry a towel and extra clothes because the sea breeze can leave you damp. Weekday mornings usually have shorter queues.
